Academic Motivation, Social Emotional Learning and Student Academic Achievement: Do Gender and Race/Ethnicity Matter?
This symposium presents three studies examining how academic motivation and SEL are related to students’ achievement in reading, mathematics, and science. These studies investigate students’ gender and race/ethnicity differences regarding the relationships among motivation, SEL, academic achievement, and contextual backgrounds, by using national representative samples from elementary to high school.
