“Building Bridges” APS Convention Travel Award

APS is pleased to announce the NIDCR “Building Bridges” APS Convention Travel Award given by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (part of the National Institutes of Health).

This award is intended to connect two research communities that have not traditionally interacted: researchers in psychological science and researchers in oral health. NIDCR invites APS poster submitters to apply for this travel award to attend the 25th APS Annual Convention in Washington, DC, May 23-26, 2013.

A poster will be eligible for consideration for this award if it meets one of the following criteria: 1) It describes a study directly relevant to oral health or 2) It describes a study indirectly relevant to oral health and makes an attempt to reconcile the hypotheses or findings with the relevant oral health literature.

The Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSS) Research Program at NIDCR supports basic and applied BSS research to promote oral health, to prevent oral diseases and related disabilities, and to improve management of craniofacial conditions, disorders, and injury. The program aims to draw on the expertise of researchers from multiple fields of study, including those with a focus on basic and clinical oral health, and those from other fields whose research might be applicable to oral health. For more information, please visit the NIDCR BSS Research Program website: http://www.nidcr.nih.gov/Research/DER/BSSRB.htm.

The award consists of reimbursement for federally-allowable travel expenses (hotel, airfare, meals, etc.), complimentary convention registration courtesy of APS, and special recognition at the convention. Approximately five travel awards will be given, and only first authors are eligible to receive this award.

Poster submitters who wish to be considered for the NIDCR travel award should check the box marked “Building Bridges NIDCR Travel Award” when submitting a poster in the APS Call for Submissions. For more information, or to apply, please visit the APS Call for Submissions.

APS and NIDCR look forward to congratulating the recipients of the NIDCR “Building Bridges” Travel Award at the 25th Annual Convention in Washington, DC.
