NIMH Requests Feedback on Improving Mental Health Among Health Disparity Communities

Provide input on how agency can combat racism’s impact on mental health through research

As COVID-19 continues to infect and tragically kill Americans, it has become clear that the pandemic poses a disproportionate threat to members of NIH-designated health disparity communities and other vulnerable populations. Because of likely negative effects on the mental health of members of disenfranchised communities during and following the pandemic, NIMH invites input from the community to help inform the next generation of research seeking to improve mental health outcomes among minority and health disparities populations in the U.S.

Of particular interest are ideas on:

  • Novel engagement strategies
  • Culturally and linguistically appropriate service delivery approaches
  • Services research methods
  • Multilevel and multidimensional strategies to accelerate progress toward findings that employ an experimental therapeutics approach

If you or a colleague wish to offer comments for NIMH consideration, you can submit them via email to: [email protected].

NIMH will accept comments submitted by October 30, 2020.
