The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) seeks submissions from small businesses proposing the development of a product, tool, technology, or service that aims to improve healthcare delivery in health disparity population groups. Small businesses are invited to apply by April 1, 2019.
NIMHD supports research on scientific advances that address the challenge of health disparities in racial and ethnic minority populations, socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, individuals residing in rural areas, and sexual/gender minorities. This funding aims to support the development of technologies that will provide one or more of these populations with opportunities for improved health.
According to NIMHD, ideal submissions are empowering services that are appealing, affordable, and accessible. Proposals should address how their product can enhance access to healthcare, medical and health knowledge, publicly available resources, or address other challenges. Technologies that reduce health burdens, such food insecurity or lack of access to government services, in urban and underserved populations are of particular interest.
