Over a Dozen APS Fellows Elected to Two Prestigious Scientific Organizations in 2025

A long list of APS Fellows, award winners, and members have been elected to both the Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences in 2025 elections. 

Founded in 1780, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences is both an honorary society that recognizes and celebrates the excellence of its members and an independent research center convening leaders from across disciplines, professions, and perspectives to address significant challenges. Nearly 250 individuals have been elected to the Academy in 2025. Among those elected are the following APS members and award winners.

  • Patricia G. Devine, APS Fellow and Charter Member, University of Wisconsin-Madison

  • Usha Goswami, APS Fellow, University of Cambridge
  • Ian Gotlib, APS Fellow, Stanford University 
  • Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, APS Member, University of Southern California 
  • Greg Miller, APS Fellow, Northwestern University 
  • Eduardo Salas, APS Fellow and James McKeen Cattell Fellow Awardee, Rice University 
  • Mark S. Seidenberg, APS Fellow and Charter Member, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Established under a congressional charter signed by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, the National Academy of Sciences is a private, nonprofit institution charged with providing independent, objective advice to the nation on matters related to science and technology. Scientists are elected by their peers for outstanding contributions to research. Eight APS members were elected in 2025.
