Abstract

Studies found that reading fiction, not nonfiction, is associated with improving theory of mind. We compared fiction reading to nonfiction reading and affect conditions: farming as low affect and war as high affect. Preliminary analysis showed no difference between fiction and nonfiction, but affect mediated transportation in predicting empathy scores.
