Abstract
This study tested self-compassion’s moderation of physical and psychological maltreatment effects. As literature suggests, results illustrate that psychological maltreatment is related to insecure attachment. Self-compassion serves as a buffer for the adverse effects of psychological and physical maltreatment. Being uncompassionate may be a vulnerability factor. Clinical implications will be discussed.
