How Victim Framing Shapes Attitudes Towards Police Violence

In media reports of police violence, police officers are often described as the “real” victim by their defenders. Across two pre-registered experiments (N = 1,205), we found that such victim framing works as intended, increasing support for the victim-framed individual by eliciting pragmatic interpretations of the framing language.
