Themes of Resilience in Archival Holocaust Diaries of Adolescent Girls

Holocaust-era archival diaries were examined for evidence of the resilience of adolescent girls living under conditions of extreme trauma and threat. The nature and emotional valence of diary passages relevant to adolescence were analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Evidence of greater positive than negative affect and gender-typed socio-emotional coping are discussed.
