Social Media Trends: Exposure to Body-Related Content May Impact Body Image

The present study assessed the influence of exposure to body-related social media trends including thinspiration, fitspiration, and body positivity, on body esteem, body comparison, and body appreciation. Results suggest a significant in-vivo effect of social media exposure on participants' body esteem and appreciation.
