Parenting Styles across Generations and Their Unique and Pervasive Impact on Emotional Intelligence

Authoritative, authoritarian and permissive past parenting experiences appear to each be uniquely and significantly associated with aspects of emotional intelligence (EI). Authoritative parenting had the weakest significant associations across the fewest aspects of EI while authoritarian and permissive were identified as having strong associations with most measured aspects of EI.
