Abstract
This study examined when shared experiences amplify emotion, finding that shared attention and sentiment to a positive stimulus amplified positive feelings but shared attention and sentiment to a negative stimulus did not amplify negative feelings. Shared attention and sentiment to both negative and positive stimuli enhanced feelings of interpersonal connection.
