Friends, Follows, and Feelings: Diverse Online and Offline Social Interactions Predict Racial Empathy and White Guilt

Abstract
This study investigates diversity of White student’s friends and diversity of social media use as predictors of empathy, guilt, and fear. Diverse friend groups were associated with lower White guilt, and greater variety of social media use was associated with lower White empathy. Results were moderated by White racial identity.
