Abstract

The present research investigates the lay-person's awareness and use of depressogenic linguistic patterns, as well as the influence of depressive symptoms and current mood. Participants wrote a personal expressive essay as themselves or in a “depressed” perspective, after being randomized to a sad mood induction or a neutral mood condition.
