Higher Cost of Helping an Individual with a Substance Abuse Problem Is Associated with Endorsement of the Psychology and Sociology Models of Addiction

Individuals endorsed the psychology model of addiction the most and the moral model the least, regardless of whether they had experience helping someone with a substance abuse problem. Higher perceived costs of helping were associated with greater endorsement of the psychology and sociology models.
