Abstract
Although social support and wellbeing are well-established protective factors against depression, little research has examined these associations during the university transition. To address this gap, 704 freshmen completed monthly surveys. Within-person increases in academic wellbeing and support predicted same-month decreases in depression, and support and connectedness interacted to predict depression.
