Abstract

Prior work has shown that memory for impressions influences approach/avoidance decisions. The current study tested the effect when impressions are based on traits and beliefs. Results suggest memory for positive and negative impressions lead to approach and avoidance tendencies, respectively, regardless of whether impressions were based on traits or beliefs.
