Abstract

We have previously demonstrated a strong anchoring-and-adjustment heuristic effect in mammography (practicing radiologists misdiagnosed cancers in a mammogram when knowing a previous radiologist's diagnosis). This raised the crucial question as to whether the subjects were unable to diagnose breast cancer to begin with, a scenario tested in the current study.
