Social Regulation of the Neural Threat Response Predicts Subsequent Markers of Physical Health

Abstract
We report a significant interaction between the hypothalamic response to threat during supportive touch and perceived support on subsequent inflammatory response, heart rate variability, and body mass index. These results speak to the role of social regulation on the existing social support, stress, and physical health model.
