Abstract

We tested if discussing experiences of disadvantage increases connectedness between two disadvantaged groups, and their hostility towards an advantaged group. Disadvantaged groups who talked about shared experiences of disadvantage (vs. who made contact prior to being disadvantaged) felt more connected, but did harbor more hostility towards the advantaged group.
