Abstract

This study manipulated disgust-salience and HIV-salience through images to activate the behavioral immune system. We measured participants' conservatism, perceived risk of HIV, HIV stigma, attitudes toward gay men, and implicit associations of gay men and lesbians. Results indicated that conservatism moderated the effect of disgust on attitudes toward gay men.
