Abstract

In this investigation of humor styles (affiliative, self-enhancing, aggressive, self-defeating) in COVID-19 memes, (N = 352) participants who were higher in the aggressive or self-defeating humor style liked memes of that respective style more on average. Findings suggest that individuals prefer maladaptive humor in the context of COVID-19 memes.
