Abstract

This longitudinal study examined whether alexithymia mediates the relationship between parental invalidation and emotion dysregulation in a sample of 189 adolescents (mean age: 14.06 years) in Singapore. Analyses showed that alexithymia partially mediated the relationship, with parental invalidation positively predicting alexithymia, which in turn predicted greater emotion dysregulation.
