Instinct and Restraint: Measuring Internal Conflict with an Implicit Association Test of the Psychodynamic Structural Model

We propose a new psychoanalytically oriented implicit association test (IAT) to investigate personality factors consistent with the id and superego components of the structural model of the mind. With this test, we aim to contribute empirical data to psychoanalytic ideas, which are typically lacking this type of objective support.
