Abstract

Previous studies suggest that fiction reading improves social cognition in adults, but little is known about whether fiction reading also improves social cognition in adolescents. This study, involving 1,993 high school students, suggests that compared to nonfiction reading, fiction reading does not lead to improvements in social cognitive performance.
