Abstract

Caregivers frequently experience disturbed sleep. One factor that may be protective is purpose in life. The present study examined a potential bi-directional association between purpose and sleep. The results demonstrate that purpose predicted improved sleep-efficiency over time and sleep-efficiency predicted enhanced purpose, both effects were mediated by lower depressive mood.
