Abstract
Emotional reactivity (ER) during adolescence is linked to severe negative outcomes, but the causes remain unclear. We found that low ER adolescents showed higher amygdala activation to negative (vs. neutral) images, whereas high ER participants displayed high activation to both types. Thus, high ER adolescents treated neutral stimuli as negative.
