Abstract
This study showed that children’s aggression elicits harsh parenting behaviors, which, in turn, exacerbate aggressive behaviors over time. Such transactional processes were not observed for property violations (e.g., stealing). These results potentially explain the higher rates of persistence observed in aggressive children compared to their peers with different behavioral problems.
