Enhanced Pavlovian Threat Conditioning to Angry and Happy Faces

The present study shows that both angry and–more strikingly–happy faces are more readily and persistently associated with aversive outcomes than neutral faces during Pavlovian threat conditioning. These findings suggest that Pavlovian learning biases are not specific to threat-related stimuli but can likewise occur to positive emotional stimuli.
