Abstract

This longitudinal study examined whether empathy, callousness, and rejection sensitivity measured in adolescence predicted women’s later parenting behavior (warmth, responsiveness, and mental state talk) during infancy. Lower callousness and higher empathy in adolescence were significant predictors of higher warmth. Higher adolescent empathy and older maternal age predicted higher responsiveness.
