Abstract
Stability and continuity of socialization processes - acceptance, coolness, admiration - among African-American youths in low-income urban schools were examined. Social regards were more stable in higher grades as children were more familiar with peers. Discontinuities occurred among three statuses: mean level of acceptance and coolness increased while admiration decreased.
