Abstract
Socioeconomic disadvantage at birth predicted significantly worse working memory in childhood, and was more detrimental for working memory for children from an ethnic majority group than for ethnic minority children. The home learning environment did not mediate the association between family socioeconomic position and working memory in either ethnic group.
