How Background Cues in Virtual Courtrooms Influence Judgements

With virtual hearings increasing sharply, the majority of focus is on how to improve the technology, but not enough on how it may affect justice outcomes. Our research shows that background contextual cues in virtual court-like scenarios bias impressions of a person. These findings warrant consideration in policy development.
