Executive Dysfunction As a Mediator of Intolerance of Uncertainty and Anxious Arousal

Intolerance of uncertainty plays a critical role in anxiety, but the cognitive mechanisms are underspecified. Executive function was investigated as a mediator of intolerance of uncertainty and anxious arousal. Results demonstrated full mediation and that deficits in behavioral regulation may explain increases in anxious arousal associated with intolerance of uncertainty.
