Absolute Standing Feedback Is More Influential Than Relative Standing Feedback on Satisfaction with Performance and Affect

Abstract
Across three experiments with a 2 (absolute standing feedback: high vs. low) x 2 (relative standing feedback: high vs. low) between-subject design, absolute feedback showed consistent effects on participants’ satisfaction with performance and affect. In contrast, relative feedback had weaker (Experiment 1) or non-significant effects (Experiments 2 & 3).
