Abstract

Graphs were generated using fictitious data and randomly presented to participants. The positively sloped graphs garnered more attention. This highlights a concern regarding coding data. Result suggests an automatic assumption of the direction of data. With increase in public access to academic data, researchers should consider coding standardization.
