What’s Worse: Lazy but Smart, or Stupid but Hardworking? Gender Differences in Mate Preferences and Aversions

In two studies, we compared gender differences in the pursuit of positive mate characteristics with gender differences in the avoidance of negative mate characteristics. Results from the studies provide initial evidence that men and women differ systematically in which characteristics they most prioritize and most avoid in a long-term partner.
