Beloved Objects and the Five Senses

Participants named beloved objects from early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence and rated the importance of each sensory modality regarding the memory of the objects. The importance of hearing increased across the three stages of life, while the importance of touch decreased. The kind of objects also varied across time.
