A National Investigation on the Association between Positive and Negative Peace with Subjective Perceptions of Safety

Utilizing national-level indexes of positive (i.e., social justice) and negative (i.e., absence of intergroup and intragroup violence) peace developed by the Institute for Economics and Peace, we investigated their correlation with subjective national reports of safety. Results highlight that both types of peace relate to elevated perceptions of citizens’ safety.
