Abstract
Participants reported their discrete emotional reactions to a randomly assigned moral dilemma involving humans or dogs in life-threatening or non-life-threatening situation. A surprising 3-way interaction emerged between locus of control, subject type, and situation type. Locus of control produced an inverse disgust reaction for human versus animal life-threatening situations.
