Centering Ourselves: Exploring the Use of Emotional-Approach Coping in Response to Gendered Racism Among Black Women

Abstract
Evidence suggests emotional-approach coping (EAC) is an adaptive coping style, yet little research investigates its use by Black women. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study explores whether EAC mediates the relationship between gendered racism and psychological distress in Black women and the moderating effects of the Strong Black Woman schema.
