Greater Intolerance of Uncertainty Reduces Self-Control

Abstract

Two studies (one experimental, one longitudinal) provide support for the claim that intolerance of uncertainty plays a causal role in reducing self-control. The effects of intolerance of uncertainty on diminished delay of gratification and self-regulation may be one reason that this individual difference is associated with many different psychological symptoms.

Self-Control
