Abstract
Recent events have led to a reconsideration of several notables (e.g., Thorndike) within the history of psychology owing to their racist and sexist behaviors. How to acknowledge their significant contributions in light of character concerns is problematic. Revisiting previous societal shifts and relevant scholarship is informative and suggestive of solutions.
