Abstract
Higher overall maximizing predicted greater satisfaction in romantic and sexual relationships; but it also predicted more relationship problems and regret and higher attachment anxiety and avoidance. The three subcomponents of maximizing correlated differently with relational variables and remained predictive of relationship outcomes and insecure attachment after controlling for personality traits.
