Abstract

Reading relies on letter-shape recognition. A comparison of 60 high school students and 17 of their mothers revealed a heightened ability of mothers' to recall and write the looptail-g, with and without prompting. This informs our understanding of how letter-shapes are learned, and of generational patterns in literacy education.
