Trajectories of Transition: Exploring Self-Development Among College Students through Symbolic Consumption

Using an exploratory sequential mixed methods design, this study investigates the ways in which college students create and use symbolic resources during their transition into the college. Analysis focuses on developing a typology of trajectories by which identities are developed, maintained, defended, and destroyed through the process of symbolic consumption.
