Do Mock Jurors Find the Defendant in a Rape Trial Less Guilty When the Victim Has a Mental Illness?

The influence of a defendant’s psychological disorder on juror perceptions was examined. Mock jurors were randomly assigned to read a trial summary which varied on the diagnosis of the rape complainant. Results indicated no difference in juror perception regarding the defendant’s psychological status.
