Measuring Scale Norming in Longitudinal Life Satisfaction Reporting

We propose a methodology for analysing scale norming over time by having respondents describe the qualitative meaning of each point on their scale. These descriptions are then reported back to respondents in subsequent waves to track whether their life satisfaction is changing or merely their reporting scale.
