Abstract

Three online direct replication experiments were conducted to examine if the infant-like characteristic effect on empathic concern occurs in the absence of interaction between researchers and participants. Results revealed little evidence of the effect and caution against assuming infant-like stimuli readily evoke empathic concern to those in need.
