Abstract
Computer agents are a hallmark of interactions using computers and phones. A laboratory study examined how trust in these agents varied with agent gender. As recommendation reliability decreased both performance and trust decreased across agents. Trust (response compliance) differed significantly between agents, with gender-neutral agents provoking the greatest trust.
